Get Summer Ready: Home Maintenance Tips
Early sunrises, late sunsets, and 3-digit temperatures – it’s still spring but summer is right around the corner! Before the weather changes from hot to scorching, knock out a few maintenance items to get your home ready for the change of seasons.
Inspect Your A/C Units
If you have bought a home with us before, you’re already getting monthly reminders to change your filters and hopefully you have kept up with them. If not, make sure you change those filters now!
Clean Your Outdoor Cooking Space
Deep clean your grill to keep your food tasting great and preserving the longevity of your equipment. You’ll be glad you did this now instead of waiting for that 4th of July weekend to get this done. Feel free to pressure wash the patio while you’re at it.
Inspect Outdoor Furniture
Wash or replace your outdoor rugs, cushions, and cushion covers. Wipe down any tables and other pieces of furniture to be ready for those family gatherings.
Get Your Landscaping Under Control
Enhance your curb appeal by trimming and pruning trees and shrubs in your front and back yards. With the monsoon season coming, you want to get ahead of the game to prevent your yard turning into a desert jungle.
Did you miss our Ultimate Spring Cleaning Checklist? If so, make sure you get these items checked off your summer to-do’s as soon as possible:
Clean out your rain gutters to keep the monsoon rains flowing off your roof.
Examine your windows and doors for any cracks and leaks.
Inspect your roof for loose or broken shingles or tiles. Monsoon season is notorious for causing delays in roof fixes, so you want to make sure you tackle it now.
Clean your vents and remove any debris that may have been collected outside of your A/C condenser. We spend so much time washing our hands and disinfecting surfaces, why not take care of our home’s air quality?
Dust those hard-to-reach places, such as ceiling fans, behind your washer and dryer, and under the beds.
Remember to do any home maintenance items either early in the morning or after sundown to prevent risks associated with the harsh desert heat. If you must be out in the sun, wear sunscreen and stay hydrated. A bit of preventative maintenance each year goes a long way in making sure your home stays in good shape, minimizing major repairs over the years.
